Sometimes you need to copy a project's structure, clean up old campaigns, or recover something you deleted too quickly. Embellish has you covered on all three.
Duplicating a project
Duplicating creates a complete copy of a project — including all of its content.
How to duplicate
-
Find the project you want to copy. You can do this from:
The Projects page — click the three-dot menu on the project's row
The project detail page — click the three-dot menu next to the status dropdown
Select Duplicate
Confirm in the dialog that appears
What gets copied
The project name (with "(Copy)" added to the end)
The description
The status
The full project brief
All content pieces (emails, SMS, voicemail scripts)
The latest version of each content piece
What doesn't get copied
Comments and inline discussions
Version history (only the most recent version of each content piece is duplicated)
The original creation date (the duplicate gets a new timestamp)
When to use it
Repeating a campaign structure — Ran a launch sequence that worked? Duplicate it and swap in the new content.
Creating a template — Build a project with the structure and brief you like, then duplicate it whenever you start a similar campaign.
Testing variations — Duplicate a project to try a different approach without touching the original.
After duplication, you'll be taken to the new project automatically.
Deleting a project
Deleting a project in Embellish isn't instant — it uses a 7-day grace period to protect you from accidental deletion.
How to delete
Click the three-dot menu on the project (from the Projects page or the project detail page)
Select Delete
Confirm in the dialog. The confirmation explains that the project and all associated content will be scheduled for deletion in 7 days.
What happens after you delete
The project is marked as "scheduled for deletion" — it's not gone yet
A red banner appears on the project detail page showing how many days remain
On the Projects page, a red note appears below the project name
After 7 days, the project and all its content are permanently removed
During the grace period, everything in the project is still accessible. You can view content, read the brief, and decide whether you actually want it gone.
Who can delete
Only Admins and Managers can delete projects. Editors can create and edit, but they can't delete.
Restoring a project
Changed your mind? You can restore a project any time during the 7-day grace period.
How to restore
Click the three-dot menu on the project that's scheduled for deletion
Select Restore (this replaces the Duplicate and Delete options while a project is scheduled for deletion)
Confirm in the dialog
The project returns to active status immediately. The deletion countdown is canceled, and everything goes back to normal — as if you never hit delete.
After the 7-day window
Once the grace period expires, the project and all its content are permanently deleted and cannot be recovered. If you're unsure, restore first and delete again later — there's no penalty for using the grace period.
